What is Summit Borrowing?
Summit borrowing is a Web-based service that allows you to search and request books and media from the Pacific Northwest Academic Libraries in the Orbis Cascade Alliance. The service is easy to use and accessible at any time from the Library or your home or office.
Who can use Summit?
Current SU students, faculty and staff and Summit visiting patrons.
How long does it take?
Summit materials will take 5-7 business days. You will be notified via your Seattle University email account when your Summit materials are ready for pick up.
Where can I pick up or return Summit Borrowing materials?
When placing a request, you can choose to have your Summit item delivered to the Lemieux Library or the Law Library. Materials will be delivered for you to pick up at the circulation desk at the location you select.
How long can I keep a Summit items?
Summit books are checked out for 6 weeks or until the end of the current term, whichever comes first. Media are items are checked out for 6 days or until the end of the current term, whichever comes first.
Can I renew Summit Borrowing materials?
As of January 5, 2021, most Summit items are eligible for a single renewal. Please renew your items using your Primo account. Once a Summit item is declared lost, it is no longer eligible for renewal.
Tip: to maximize the renewal period, make the request 3-4 days before the book is due.
Are there any late fees for overdue Summit Borrowing materials?
There are no late fees for an overdue Summit item. Failure to return a Summit item promptly will result in the item being declared lost. The charge for a lost item is $75.00 plus $15.00 processing fee for a total of $90.00 per item. In some cases, lost Summit books may be replaced, pending approval from the owing library.
How can I track my Summit requests?
You can track your Summit items from the time you make the request until they returned by checking Your Library Account.

To request items from Summit
1. Sign in to Primo.
2. Search or browse Summit.
3. When you find what you want, click the Title link.
4. Click on the "Show Summit Libraries" button to see if the item is available at another library.
5. Then click on the "Request from Summit (6-8 days)" button.
6. Fill out the form details and click the "Request" button.
Please only click on the button ONCE (even if you do not receive a confirmation), then check your library account to make sure that the request was successful. Clicking the link multiple times may place multiple requests.
7. You will receive an e-mail when your items are available to pick up at the library's circulation desk. Present library staff with either your SU campus card or valid picture ID (driver's license or passport) in order to check out items at the desk.
