What is Summit Borrowing?
Summit borrowing is a Web-based service that allows you to search and request books and media from the Pacific Northwest Academic Libraries in the Orbis Cascade Alliance. The service is easy to use and accessible at any time from the Library or your home or office.
NOTE: As of 9/8/2020 -- Due to COVID-19, resources from some academic libraries are not yet available for Summit borrowing. Please check the PRIMO catalog for availability.
Who can use Summit?
Current SU students, faculty and staff and Summit visiting patrons.
How long does it take?
NOTE: Due to COVID-19, Summit materials will take 6-8 business days. All Summit materials arriving at Seattle University will be quarantined for 3 days. You will be notified by your Seattle University email account when your Summit materials are ready for pick up.
Where can I pick up or return Summit Borrowing materials?
When placing a request, you can choose to have your Summit item delivered to the Lemieux Library or the Law Library. Materials will be delivered for you to pick up at the circulation desk at the location you select.
How long can I keep a Summit items?
Summit books are checked out for 6 weeks or until the end of the current term, whichever comes first. Media are items are checked out for 6 days or until the end of the current term, whichever comes first.
Can I renew Summit Borrowing materials?
Summit items cannot be renewed.
Are there any late fees for overdue Summit Borrowing materials?
Late fees are .50 cents per item per day for the first ten days. After that, fees become $1.00 per item per day. The charge for a lost item is $75 plus a $15 processing fee for a total of $90 per item. In some cases lost Summit books may be replaced, pending approval from the owning library.
How can I track my Summit requests?
You can track your Summit items from the time you make the request until they returned by checking Your Library Account.
To request items from Summit
1. Search or browse Primo.
2.When you find what you want, click the "Request a Copy" link. You will need to sign in to view more options.
3. After sign-in, click on the "Summit" tab to see if the item is available at another library.
4. Click on the "Find and Request" tab, then click on the "Place Summit Request" link.
Please only click on the link ONCE (even if you do not receive a confirmation), then check your library account to make sure that the request was successful. Clicking the link multiple times may place multiple requests.
5. You will receive an e-mail when your items are available to pick up at the library's circulation desk. Present library staff with either your SU campus card or valid picture ID (driver's license or passport) in order to check out items at the desk.
